They're not as fleecy as Uggs and Emus in terms of length of fleece and and its density, but they manage to be thermal and warm. I did wonder about the sort of odd, slightly rough, brown wool and polyester exterior, which is thankfully neutral, and then suddenly thought, "duh, they're intended to mimic the Kiwi." I normally wear a 10 in most shoes, a 10 1/2 in a few, and since I read these can run small for some people, I ordered an 11. It's slightly loose, yet still requires some maneuvering to slip on, but once they're in place, I don't notice the looseness at all. The sole has visible grip, but since it's summer, I can't vouch for how it will function in icy or snowy conditions. That said, although these are indoor-outdoor, they would more than suffice as fully loaded indoor winter slippers.
