1.0 out of 5 stars. Bummer. Comfy shoe fell apartReviewed by MsDawn from Colorado on Wednesday, March 11, 2026After a month I decided to wash this light colored shoe as I’ve done with several other Altra I’ve owned. This one failed where the toe piece came loose and I assumed I’d trip if I tried wearing them. Altra customer service was completely unhelpful

4.0 out of 5 stars. 5 star comfort, minus 1 for durabilityReviewed by NM from USA on Sunday, February 22, 2026I am already a fan of Altras, having started with a pair of Lone Peak trail shoes a few years ago. I wanted to try a pair of road shoes as well.
These are perfect for non-technical runs (like on pavement around the neighborhood), and are great for walking. However I get really bad toe crunch runnung downhill in these. Was not a problem with the Lone Peaks although I can't speak to the current models. So I only use these FWS VIA's for walking or easy jogs.
I also have noticed the sole coming apart from the uppers near the ball of my foot. Disappointing after only 3 months of light wear. I think perhaps my feet are low volume so I have to cinch the laces tight in that area. But the length is perfect for my size 6.5 feet and of course the ample toe room feels amazing. Was expecting more durability for the price. Still overall good though.
Given all that, these are excellent shoes for casual walking. I hate turning my running shoes into work shoes, but have done so because these are so much more comfortable than all my other shoes. So if you have never worn big-toe-box shoes and are just looking to start, these are a good place to start for indoor or street wear.
When I wear them, especially with toe stretchers on, all my ankle and knee pain becomes way, way less. I don't think about my feet at all by the end of the workday. Once I get some actual big-toe-box work boots, these FWD VIA sneakers will become my go-to walking and casual sneakers.
They are also very white! I was expecting more of an off-white color. But they are cute for sure.
These have high cushion and low grip, which is perfect for non-technical wear. They have a little bit of bounce, which is great.
All in all, I really love these shoes, even with their faults.
