Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Sizing is WAYYYYY different than normal Clark Wallabees

I've had wallabees before. They're awesome, especially when you replace the insole with a more supportive one. These, however, were just sized wrong. These are approximately 1-1.5 sizes too large. I love these boots so much I tried several times to get the correct size, but unfortunately, STP sold out as I was trying to figure this sizing issue out. I ended up ordering from Clarks USA directly at full price. (This is why I am 100% positive that the sizing for this particular run of boots is completely off). (I usually wear a 7, I've had a pair of 7's in the past, which were perfect. These 7's were 1-1.5 sizes too big. I needed a 6, but they were gone.) Boo.

I normally wear a size 10 but went with size 9 1/2 after reading other reviews and they fit perfectly.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Classic style, needs a bit of help

These shoes arrived promptly, look great, and are uncomfortably narrow. I'm hoping that a few days wear will soften the forefoot and increase the comfort, because I do really like the crepe sole. The ties are amazing: no slip from the first time tied. Overall, for a Wallabee style I've worn for 50 years, these are holding up the classic tradition.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. They Sort Of *Do* Make Them Like They Used To

I last bought a pair of Wallabees several decades ago. They were made in the UK, as I recall, of thick suede, and they lasted through years of pretty-much-everyday wear. I bought this new pair with some trepidation, because it's no challenge to find online reviews stating that today's Wallabee, made in Asia, is a mere shadow of its former self. Well, there may well be "updated" styles and versions of the Wallabee that may not measure up to the standards of the original, but this pair, at least, is a worthy successor to the name. Yes, they're made in Asia. But the leather is of good quality, the crepe soles look and feel just like the originals and they're every bit as comfortable as my old, old, long-gone shoes. (If anything, the footbed is more supportive than that of the original.) The "beeswax" finish is just rustic enough – there's plenty of subtle variation in the color, but it doesn't look like a "trying too hard" intentionally weathered leather. Will this pair last for years? It's way too soon to tell. But I'm more than satisfied so far.
