  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Comfortable, Functional, & Well-Constructed
Reviewed by Grandma Bev from Driggs ID on Monday, September 30, 2019
I love this pack! I did go to the Gregory website for more information before buying, and while I did see that the pack is described as a men's pack, and I am a 5'4.5", I followed the directions (on the Gregory website) for measuring my torso, and found it fit into the 13-19" range listed in this pack's description. I've only hiked with it once so far, but found it to be more comfortable that any day pack I've ever used. The shoulder straps are very well padded, and I found that by fastening both the chest and waist straps, the weight is distributed in a way that helps keep my upper back (shoulder) muscles from becoming sore--a problem I have had with other packs. The pack is sturdy and well-constructed, and, as an experienced seamstress, I'm picky about that! The tag states that it was manufactured in India, which for me was a pleasant surprise, as so many clothing and accessory items are made in China--of cheap materials, thread, and sloppily workmanship. I like the way the numerous compartments are configured, and the finger loop zipper pulls are mercifully easy on my arthritic fingers! The side pockets are deep enough to hold a tall water bottle, and have tightening straps, so whatever size bottle you use, it is unlikely to slip out when putting on or taking off the pack. I also love that I saved $40 by buying at Sierra Trading Post rather than paying $100 on Amazon! A lucky find!
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. not comfortable for women?

The Gregory website says this is sized for men, and shows it with a 5'11" male model. I did not know that when I ordered from Sierra, and find that its fit is uncomfortably long for my torso (I am a 5'5" woman). The shoulder straps are not comfortable against the neck (where it rides up due to excessive length) and skin (scratchy nylon). I chose it for the features (side straps to tighten the pack so it doesn't ride out when the pack is not full, chest strap, waist belt, bottle holders and will probably return it -- just too uncomfortable.

About Gregory

After designing his first backpack as a Boy Scout at the age of 14, Wayne Gregory dedicated his career to making outstanding gear, a mission that eventually led him to create Gregory Mountain Products in 1977. From the beginning, Gregory backpacks have been engineered using a combination of field research and customer feedback in order to enhance durability, fit and function. The brand has pioneered many industry firsts, such as multiple pack sizes with different frame, harness and waist belt dimensions. They also developed the first waist belt system that offered a variety of hip angles. Not surprisingly, Gregory backpacks have been praised in a wide range of publications, from Backpacker magazine to National Geographic Adventure.
