I usually fit in medium but these are so loose in the waist that I can pull them off without un snapping them. They should have a draw string or at least some elastic in the waist band. Poorly designed but I still liked them so I sewed them a pinch in the back to align with the 2 back seams. You could barely notice it so I can wear them. If you have to alter a garment its usually not worth the price.
