While the waistband has some stretch, the pants do not, instead they're pleated horizontally down the leg. Will this work well in the gym? I don't know. They'll probably look better after I leave the gym. The tag on pants tells of Lorna Jane's "...frustration with the lack of women's sportswear available..." Well Lorna, I wish you'd have sprung for the extra 3 cent worth of fabric to make the front pockets usable instead of too shallow to hold even a car key. But here's the kicker - the tag on how to wash etc says, "SOME COLOURS ARE NOT COLOURFAST. PRE-WASH IN COLD WATER WITH ONE TABLESPOON SALT BEFORE USE." Seriously? I'm not sure which is more trouble, to prewash my new pants with salt and I suppose to not be able to return them if they shrink or fade... or to just plain return them.
