It is a bit short in the neck, in my opinion, so I will also pair it with a neck warmer / gaiter to insulate the neck in colder weather. To be fair, I have done this with many other balaclavas too. This is heavier than some balaclavas: I bought this in the spring so did not get to test it in the depths of winter, but am confident that it will be very warm.
