  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. So far so good

I'm very impressed with the light-weight and feel of this jacket, though I have not yet had an opportunity to wear it out in the rain. It's intended to replace my other backpacking raincoat, and I'm very pleased with its pack-ability and seeming durability. Again, it has not been exposed to the elements yet. This is all first impression.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice!

I bought this for dog walking and hiking in the rain. I am between a size 6 and an 8 and am glad I ordered the 8. A size 6 may have been slightly snug on my size 6/8 hips. Plus, I think it would have been hard to layer a sweatshirt or sweater with a size 6. I have an older Marmot (Crystalline) jacket and love it. I bough this because I CAN't STAND it when a rain jacket sticks to my skin when I get warm. The only reason I took off a star is because it needs hand pockets. The single chest pocket is not as practical.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
