5.0 out of 5 stars. Large fits my size 10 feet
Reviewed by Bumpy from Boston on Thursday, June 2, 2016
Funky socks and great price so I decided to gamble on the size. My feet are size 10, though I sometimes fit a wide 9 1/2 shoe. The size large fit well with no excess or gaps anywhere, but I can tell a 10 or maybe a 9 1/2 is as small as you could go before the sock will be loose.
Not for those who want their socks to go unnoticed, but the grey go well with jeans and bring a dash of unexpected color. These socks are very well made, hefty without being thick like a thick hiking sock. Ordered one pair as a test then four more pair that I expect will last me years of fall to spring weekends.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. My favorite socks. They're gorgeous & comfy.

After a lifetime of layering up cheap socks all winter and having my feet freeze anyway, I went on a wool sock-buying spree last year, aided by STP's prices. Of all the wool socks I now wear, these are my favorites; I have a few pairs in the black and am about to order the brown, too. (I tried the beige ones, but the colors were more muted and boring in real life.) I'm a woman with a long, narrow foot (9.5 N), and these in a medium or large (which I think was all that STP had when I first ordered them) fit fine; as I recall, one pair was a bit big at first but shrank up to fit fine when I intentionally threw them in the dryer. They're heavy but not too thick to fit inside sleek boots, they have a pretty high wool content, they're made in the USA (why are socks some of the only kinds of clothes regularly made here?), and they have comfy cushioning on the soles. They're simple enough to go with anything, but the blanket pattern gives a subtle pop of color.

I was hoping to wear these year round, but the socks are fairly thick and much more appropriate for fall/winter.

About Woolrich

The esteemed Woolrich clothing company has come a long way since the early 1800s, when founder John Rich sold socks to logging camps from the back of his mule cart. By 1830, Rich had built America’s first woolen mill in Pennsylvania, and it wasn’t long before Woolrich blankets and clothing became a household name. Over the years, this trusted American brand has enhanced its woolens and other fabrics with contemporary textures, dying techniques and washes, all designed to improve performance and comfort for the modern consumer. Today, after nearly two centuries of putting customers first, Woolrich bedding and clothing is still beloved by those who enjoy the great outdoors and all those who appreciate quality.
