After over 30 years outside all day every day, it is rusty (builds character!) but the sound is the same as the new one I got here on STP and everything is still sturdy. It compliments other chimes you may have since its sound is more infrequent and lower. Really quite meditative. We also used it as a dinner bell growing up, as when you grab the pendulum and give it a shake it makes quite a sound---would be great for farmers/ranchers needing a louder call sometimes. Amazing price here. Would make a lovely wedding or housewarming gift. It will last forever :)

The chain will rust, and I expect that's where the failure point lies. But they have a lovely tone, and I'm hoping for a few years' worth of enjoyment from them.
