I'd say it's closer to size 2.5 or 3, which is what my son wears. Happy to get a good pair of Keens at a low price just because of a sizing error! We love the quality of this brand...unlike other shoes which wear out, these last us through multiple kids.

Also, the entire shoe was so narrow that there was no way it was going to fit.

It did not. In this shoe, big kids 5 means women's 5. I suppose I was thinking of youth sizes.
