5.0 out of 5 stars. Perfect rain coat

Everything about this jacket is exactly right. I live in the PNW, and purchased this in the middle of our monsoon season, which runs roughly from September to July. I have a waterproof shell I use for backpacking, but wanted something a little nicer for day to day use. I also wanted something longer without using a parka/trash bag situation, and this is perfect. I'm 5'6", and the bottom hem sits about 3" above my knees. It's nicely fitted, but still has room to move around. The front pockets are deep, zippered, and well placed. They hold a large iphone easily. The sleeves have two snaps to adjust the tightness of the fit. The hood is large enough to keep the rain off of my face, but not so much that it cuts off my peripheral vision, and has cords on the side to tighten if needed. Easy zippered closure with velcro to cover it and faux snaps to dress it up a little. This is one of my favorite purchases on STP. Can't recommend it enough.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great jacket

Super happy with this jacket. I did size up--usually wear an 8-10 and got a large and that was a good choice. It fits well over a t-shirt and also over a fairly heavy sweater. I'm 5'2" and the sleeves are quite long for me, but the cuffs are nicely finished inside so I can just turn them up and it looks fine. I lose the cute belt detail, but oh, well. I'm pleased with the bright steel color as well; it's a nice neutral but still perkier than a black raincoat on a gray day. I share the other reviewer's misgivings about the velcro--I'm planning to just snip off the top one to save my handknit scarves from its tiny teeth. Flattering fit, well-placed pockets, hood is a bit big for me (again, maybe because I'm short), love the just-above-the-knee length. The high collar (my partner says "That jacket has an anime collar" and she's not wrong) is cool and also looks really attractive folded down. I'm trusting other reviewers as to its waterproofness as I haven't been able to test that yet. Great STP price!

Overall, everything, I love this jacket. The sleeves are long but I'm tall so it's GREAT to have sleeves a little too long.

I bought this in a medium , altho I am typically a size small . I like my out wear bigger , to layer my clothing . I live in Montana .It fits plenty big , A light layer under it would look fine , theres enough room for a winter coat i think . That would not look so cute . the shape of the coat , doesnt really want a fat layer under it . so its really a rain coat that is unlined . I like the look the shape and cut . I bought the dark zinc color , it has a green hue .. its ok , should have bought black for my complexion . the coat is great , my choices in size and color Im not thrilled about tho . maybe someone can learn from my experience tho If you are a size small , a small is plenty big.

I ordered an XS and was shipped a L. Then couldn’t re-order as the XS had sold out by that time. Pretty disappointed. Jacket looked to be of good quality.

Love the look of this jacket, plus it's practical. I have a shorter waterproof shell which is great for walking and hiking. I wanted this jacket for a more urban journey. It's very lightweight and would be easily stashed. The collar is full up to the chin. The arms are long and roomy. But my problem is that it is very snug across my chest. I tried this jacket on with a summer T-shirt and it was just OK for a fit. I put a fleece (which I'll need) on and it was uncomfortably tight. It zipped up but it looked and felt way too tight. Everything else was fine. The waist was comfortable. The hips area was maybe a little too wide. I ordered this in a large. FYI, my bra size is 36/38 B.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
