As with all floor pumps in this price range the internal pump gaskets or the valve head gaskets fail. I had to replace the valve head with a head from another brand of pump which couldn't force the air but still would grasp the valve. It is still pumping well with the replacement head. Some may initially find the base feels flimsy compared to a metal base but by keeping a firm foot on the base it works fine.
