5.0 out of 5 stars. Great Jacket

Super light weight and packable. I use it when I travel for work and for camping/hiking. I am 6', 188 lbs and the large is perfect. The medium fit me as well, but the sleeves were too short. My son is 5' 10", 155 lbs and loves his medium.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Not Waterproof

This jacket might be water resistant but it is not waterproof. After riding my bike home (3 miles) in a drizzly rain I was wet. I can’t imagine how wet I would have been if it was really raining. I wish it wasn’t too late to return it!

light weight, good quality. would be better if it stuffed into its pocket or came with a stuff sack
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Awesome lightweight rain jacket

This is a great lightweight rain jacket. The material is very cool and is surprisingly breathable. I was a little concerned as it does not have pit-zips like my last jacket, but I have yet to have any issues with this jacket turning into a sweat box! This thing is super lightweight and packs down small. And it does a great job of keeping me dry, which of course is it's main job. The fit is great, I'm 5'9" 160lb and a small was perfect.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice lightweight jacket but durability is so so.

I bought an earlier version of this jacket about 7 or 8 years ago and it has been a good jacket, extremely lightweight and very packable. I've used it for commuting and casual wear. It kept me dry always but I did not perform aerobic activities in it so I cannot comment of the breathability of the membrane relative to others on the market. What i can say however, is that the membrane, started to severely degrade recently. I was a little disappointed that it did not last longer and was hoping to find a more durable version, perhaps with an inner layer of protective fabric to protect the membrane but everything I saw fitting that description was quite expensive so I ended up buying this jacket again a few weeks ago. I figure at the low price I bought it for, if I get another 5+ years out of it, it is still a good deal. I also like the overall design of the jacket, it is fairly minimalist without a bunch of zippers, flaps or graphics.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
