About Klymit Static V Inflatable Sleeping Pad - Prior Year Model

Closeouts. Unwind under the stars with Klymit's Static V inflatable sleeping pad. Just 10-15 breaths inflates it to full, and the body-mapped V-chamber design limits air movement to help maintain warmth, comfort and performance.

Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. You had to Understand It
Reviewed by Patroller2 from Idaho Falls, ID on Tuesday, November 1, 2016
Unlike the prior review my comments would differ a bit. First, if you blow it up enough so when you sit up or put your elbow down it will be so hard it is uncomfortable when you lie on it -- or you will roll off it. You have to understand how blow up sleeping mats are intended to be used. Second, on the number breaths -- well, we all know "your results may vary" or in this case "your lung capacity may vary". I would say yes the number of breaths stated by the manufacturer is a bit optimistic, but it still works fine. You simply have to understand the type of pad ( and I own or have owned several different ones frorm major companies) and its intended use. So while the other reviewer's comments are not "wrong" per se, you simply have to consider the overall product.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Comfy

Only tried it on my living room floor so far, but it’s very cushy. All body part are supported and kept off the floor.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Very light, very effective in my hammock

Pretty quick to inflate. The cap/mouthpiece is a little confusing as it doesn't come completely off, which is good, but does add to more puffing.
Was very comfortable and kept a nice barrier for overnight hammock camping. The material is pliable but sturdy, and had a good texture to it that kept it from sliding in the hammock.
    Must have for hammock camping!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Good pad for car camping

I recently bought this pad for a car camping trip in southern Califorina. It pack up nice and does not take a lot of room up. I would say the 10-15 breaths is pretty accurte to the amount needed to inflate it. I did however need to reflate it a little bit after the first night. It was very comfortable to sleep on. It looks a lot longer before it gets inflated, probably not a great if your shorter then 5'10.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Solid but not great backpacking pad
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MesaGuy from Costa Mesa, CA on Tuesday, July 30, 2019
The Klymit Static V pad is a solid backpacking pad, of moderate comfort, and hitting the backpacking weight category. The newer version the Klymit Static, the V2 is pretty much the exact same pad, except that the newer version is 3 ounces lighter. That matters to ounce counters of the super-ultralight minimalist backpacker variety (you know who you are.) For everyone else, this pad is still plenty light, and the extra 3 ounces in fabric weight makes it wear and last better than its newer lighter twin. The Klymit Static Recon model is also the same as the Klymit Static V as well, just a Military Tan color instead of Blue or Rust. The pad is 23 inches wide, which I found sufficient for back sleeping by full sized men, and just-barely wide enough for side sleeper up to 6 ft. 6 ft to 6 ft. 3 it works if you are a careful side sleeper. For the less careful, and those 6 ft. 4 and larger, get a wider pad otherwise your knees will be off the pad when side sleeping. The Klymit Static Luxe pad is the wider pad, not the pad under review here. This pad is quick inflating because the air tubes have bigger gaps between them in the pad. Thus less of the pad is actually a suspension surface air tube, and less air needs to be blown in. The air tubes are in a V pattern, and that helps compensate for the wider gaps between air tubes. I find the pads sufficiently comfortable, but only 2.5 inches thick rather than 3 inches of many other full coverage air pads. For me the 2.5 inches is just barely OK, but it is. For big hip woman, you might want a 3 inch pad. The pad fabric is 75D top and bottom, which wears well, but is a bit heavier than the fabric found in true ultralight pads. Also like the warning track edge design, it consciously and unconsciously keeps on the pad better at night than other pad designs. Over all a solid performer, and often available at a great price in the $40-50 dollar range. MSRP $55. Cons: It only gets 4 of 5 stars because of weight, and because the wider gaps between air tubes do not work for everyone. Pros: Packs small, still very light, though not the lightest, sturdy 75D fabric all around. Solid plastic valve seems to hold up well over extended use, deals with rocky ground pretty well.
