The fabric is soft and quiet, but has a nice toughness on the outside that makes it seem like a great outer layer. The fabric is two sided, with a sifter, smooth inside and the tougher outside. The jacket runs a little big: I ordered a medium, and it feels like it is between a medium and a large. This is ok by me, since it provides plenty of room and will easily fit an insulating layer underneath. I own other La Sportiva jackets in size medium, and this one is larger than those, so it seems like it's just this jacket, and not all La Sportiva jackets. It is not fully windproof but definitely takes the edge off the wind. It seems well made and there are four nice pockets. The cuffs are a durable long elastic like on some other LS jackets. A terrific value on STP!
