It is attractive and it is a pleasure to the feet, The pile is probably .5 inches. Plus it has enough body to pretty much stay put. My last rug was thinner and my 2 young dogs were able to accordion it. They can not fold or move this rug as they get traction around the corner. The rug is great also because my old dog is a bit unstable with her back feet on tile, she is stable on this rug.
