5.0 out of 5 stars. Very light jacket

Same category as the Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer 800 down. Very light, soft and comfortable. Fit is very trim 5'-8" 135lb fits snug. Not much down packed in there so don't hold warmth as well compared to other heavier down jacket simply because there are lessdown (like the Mountain Hardware StretchDown RS Hooded @ 750 fill)... I bought both and found the Mountain Hardware StretchDown RS to be warmer when out on a 20 degree night. This one is so slim and soft, I wear it almost all the time even inside the house like a sweater... Pertex Quantum shell is very thin (hence light weight) so you can see the down through the fabric. I got the blue one, and fabric got a sheen to it that's very nice. Many have commented on the look.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. a little tighter than others

I'm 160cm 56kg (5'4" and 135lbs), usually size small or XS with some bigger brand.

For Outdoor Research would fit with small size but this jacket's hem (the bottom) seems tighter than others. If it's a little more tighter, I had to return this jacket.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. great jacket

Hard to believe a jacket this light could possibly keep you warm. I have had my jacket for about a year and I have become a big fan of OR merchandise. It does not feel like it could possibly be 800 fill, but this jacket does keep you warm. I had it in New Orleans last year for a playoff game (Roll Tide) and it was cold and windy. Southern cold weather is moist so it goes right through most jackets, but this one kept me warm and the wind was howling. I'd give it 5 stars but I have a slight ponch and am not a fan of slim fit especially when layering, so far, this jacket has been great, and very packable.

A great light jacket that provides decent warmth. Perfect for weather between 35-45 degrees with just a t-shirt.

Runs a bit large. Get a size down if you want a snug fit and don't worry it has long arms.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
