I always know what size to buy (5.5). Since I bought the right size, the shoe doesn't accommodate a thicker sock. These are no warmer than the Polarand Moc shoes I have, however, and I had hoped to go up a level in warmth. The fleece is "grippy" so it can take a little work to slip your foot in depending on the type of sock you have. I probably won't wear these lower than 30 F. Well-made and comfortable, but 4 stars because they aren't that warm.

My feet are very average in width....certainly not narrow but not wide either. These boots are not abnormally narrow. They feel appropriate in width (i.e.: medium).

Normally wear 7.5 but got size 8. Fit is great with enough roominess for socks....room for toes to spread out and not hit against the front. Have not tested them out in cold weather yet but verrrrry comfy.....typical Merrell comfort. Not tight around calf but has strap to tighten if necessary.

I guess I expected it to be more plush inside (it's not) - mostly only a part of the shank so it doesn't "feel" warm.
