I'm not sure they can be figured out, I tried and tried to get them to work but couldn't. I really wanted them, but they were too hard to put on and mess with the straps and then they still were not right.

The absence of a heel strap lets me easily kick them off but they stay on my feet well enough to walk for miles. I wear a 7 1/2 narrow in shoes and have always worn 7 in Chacos. 7 fits in these.
