I normally take a 40' waist and bought these jeans originally in a size 40 - way too big round the waist and thighs - I looked like MC Hammer!
Ordered the 38 and they fit perfectly. Very comfortable and whilst a relaxed fit, certainly not baggy with light enough denim to be soft when sitting, bending etc...
Bottom line, if you're like me and would have difficulty executing a return living outside the US, order a size down to be on the safe side.
Finally I would also add that I bought both colours and much prefer the lighter version (I think it's "medium stonewash" or something like that). Yes, the description includes the dreaded 80's "stonewash", but it is not what I would call stonewash (growing up in that era). The colour is very accurately reflected in the website picture.
