We use them for floating our local rivers, the Colorado, the Blue below Green Mtn reservoir and the Eagle. If you don't think you need a PFD, check out this video where I was thrown from the raft. https://youtu.be/fDyR03DNMFA My PFD was shredded afterwards and I replaced all three with the Extrasport

Unfortunately, the shoulder straps on the size Large are very short, so the jacket fits very high on the chest and shoulders, much, much higher than my Extrasport Type III. I'm 5'10", 195lbs. The bottom buckle is at my sternum; it should be down around my belly button.

This is my 3rd rescue pfd (I keep them at different locations). My problem with this one is that the straps across the top of the shoulders are short and not adjustable. This makes the jacket fit high on my torso; it cannot be pulled lower. It is uncomfortably close around my neck. I can tell that it would chafe if worn fully secured for a long day of paddling. The sizing is correct, but it may be designed for a person with a different body shape. Returning it.

Our rescue squad has used ExtraSports for years with good results, they take wear and tear well, and are versatile in different rescue scenarios. It didn't come with a cow tail/tow tether that I was expecting, that's another chunk of change to buy that.

He never got to try it out on the river as the top of the front at the zipper sits a little too high on him and tended to rub his neck when he was sitting in his boat. Sadly had to return it. I do think it would be a great PFD for rafting, canoeing where you need a lot of floatation and probably better for teens/young adults - would not sit up so far on a taller person. Seems to be sized appropriately otherwise, and very well made.
