The fabric is not stain or water repellent like better quality luggage. To wit, on a trip in Argentina our bags were sitting outside at an airport when a rainstorm blew in; my Travel Pro suitcase's contents stayed dry, but the Chariot's contents were soaking wet. Likewise, the fabric collects dirt like a magnet.
