5.0 out of 5 stars. Hands Down the Best Filter

I've owned a version of this filter for 3 years now, and it's still going strong. I've had some very questionable water go through this filter and have never been sick. Great for backcountry camping and traveling to areas of the world where there is nothing but bottled water.

I've also had a lot of fun playing pranks on people with this... filling up my water bottle from a source of water known to be contaminated whilst friends watch from a far, then taking a big swig of the 'contaminated water' without telling them I have a filter in the bottle.. Good fun.

Note, find an alternative filter for winter camping, as this filter does not do well when cold - the flow rate is horrible due to the way its constructed (hollow fiber membrane). Boiling water is usually my go to in the winter anyways.

About Sawyer

The Sawyer paddle and oar company was created in 1967 by ten-time AuSable River Canoe Marathon champ Ralph Sawyer in Rogue River, Oregon. After falling in love with rafting, Sawyer began creating oars for whitewater. Word quickly spread about the brand’s beautiful, handmade oars crafted of Douglas fir with signature Walnut racing stripes, and it wasn’t long before Sawyer oars were being spotted on rivers and lakes all over the western United States. Over the years, Sawyer paddles have evolved to incorporate modern materials, including wood-fiberglass composite models and even hybrid models reinforced with carbon fiber. When it comes to blending form and function, Sawyer paddles and oars are always a cut above.
