3.0 out of 5 stars. Could be better

I have compared several different low hikers / approach shoes. These include Salewa, Haglofs, The North Face and these. First of all, the sizing was very confusing, as STP claimed these were in UK sizes. I ordered a 9.5, expecting a 9.5 UK, and I received a 9.5 US. They subsequently changed the website to reflect this. So I did end up with a US 11, which is about 1/2 size larger than my true size. These do run small.

The shoe is OK, perhaps middle of the road. The Salewa had better grip and the Haglofs had superior support. I would say that these are comparable to TNF similar shoes. They width is what I would consider "normal", so if you have a wider foot, look elsewhere. If you want more support, consider a different shoe or an orthotic insert.

About Mammut

Mammut is a Swiss-based producer of high-quality mountaineering, climbing and trekking equipment. The company’s history actually dates back to the mid-1800’s, beginning with a single rope maker named Kaspar Tanner. By the 1940’s, the brand had officially adopted the mammoth logo and name. Originally specializing in Mammut ropes, the well-known alpine gear company eventually grew its product line to include mountaineering boots, crampons, harnesses and hardware. By the 1990’s, the product selection had grown even further to include Mammut jackets, pants, sleeping bags, Mammut packs and a host of other premium-quality essentials for the outdoor enthusiast.
