It's hard for me to find boots with the right height shaft because I have wide calves but I live in MD and the winters are real cold and sometimes we get snow (it's a very wet snow in this area) so I want it high enough to keep me warm and cozy. These boots are pretty great and comfy - waterproof or resistant at least, though I haven't had to walk through deep snow yet. They're also pretty light-weight; my last pair of duck boots were crazy heavy.
As a looks-note: the color is a lighter gray than the picture seems to show, but I don't mind at all.
My only quibble is that while these are lined in a fuzzy material for extra warmth, they are not nearly as cozy warm as some other boots I've had. I am a wide 7.5 but usually order a size 8, and I got a size 8 in these boots. They seem to run a tiny bit small because I can't wear 2 pairs of socks to compensate for the coziness factor, which I normally do when it's really cold or wet out, bc then the boots are too tight. I usually have to pull the tab on the back of the boot to slide my foot in, so maybe they just run a little small, regardless of wearing 2 pairs of socks.
Overall they function well and look cute. -
