3.0 out of 5 stars. Not obvious as secondsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Nick from California on Thursday, July 30, 2015I was a little disappointed to find out that these socks were seconds. I had not realized this when I placed the order and it was a surprise to me when I received the socks. It was not obvious to me when I was looking at the socks online. When I went back to look at the item page, all there was was a pretty inconspicuous link that just said "2nds" that you have to click on to actually find out what that the items are irregulars. Also, they have a big label printed directly on the socks themselves that say "irregulars", which I wish was just on the packaging or something not permanent. I'm sure the socks are fine, I just wish the vendor had made it more apparent that they are seconds.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Quality socksReviewed by Anonymous from Tennessee on Friday, February 20, 2015These socks are very comfortable, great quality, and seem durable! Note that they have light cushion pads on the heel and the ball of the foot. These did not shrink as much as Icebreakers did in the wash. (I did not put either into the dryer)

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great socks!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Bill from Helotes on Tuesday, April 8, 2014SmartWool PhD's have become my go-to sock for hiking and distance walking. They feel great and are dense and very supportive. I've been blister-free, and my feet tire less quickly. Some of my Colorado friends complain that they are not as warm as comparable socks, since they aren't quite as thick, but I haven't had a problem. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars. Good socksReviewed by Anonymous from Washington on Friday, March 21, 2014Socks fit well and are true to size. I wear a size 11.5 shoe and the XL fits perfect. The color is a little grey-ish white.
