Columbia Sportswear Lay ‘D’ Omni-Heat® Down Jacket - 550 Fill Power, Removable Hood (For Women)

This is a very warm jacket. I have one in Black and it keeps me warm in Alaska's cold. I bought the pink because I love HOT PINK! The jacket is beautiful, it's a vibrant hot pink. Here's the problem.......In reality, I am not at the age to wear this awesome pink jacket. If I were 10 yrs younger, yes. maybe I can get away with it. But I've come to the conclusion that I can't pull it off! As far as fit goes, as I've experience with Columbia Jackets, from fleece to down, the size is not true to size. I have Columbia clothes from S to L and I am usually a 8/10 Med fit. It fits more like a S compared to brands such as Patagonia or Northface jackets. This M is a bit snug around the middle. The L that I tried on at a store in town was too big so it looked funny. Even though it's not for me, I am still a true fan of this. My daughter has worn the girls version of this for two years and says it keeps her warm and she only wears a t shirt underneath it. Since then I've purchased 3 more of these just bacause as a kid, she'll grow out of them every year. This is a great jacket at a great price. Grab it when you can from STP. I will unfortunately be sending this back because I will not be able to enjoy the warmth because I'm too chicken to wear this color at my age.

The groovy pink color is totally better than expected! It's a very nice, bright hot pink with purple undertones. It will be very hard to loose me skiing down the Colorado mountains once ski season rolls around. I had this on for 5 minutes and could feel all my body heat staying inside the jacket. I love that the waterproofing on the outside is a matte surface... down jackets that are shiny are kinda tacky to me. The fur hood makes it super stylish. My only complaints are that I wish it were and inch or two longer, and it overall runs a little small. I'm 5'3" and a size 2, and I find the small to run much smaller than normal jackets. So if your unsure and looking for a little more freedom of movement in your jacket, go for the size up! I have room for a layer in my jacket, but this is a tailored-type jacket. This was my 2nd purchase of this jacket. The features are very usable. The first purchase was in Dec. 2014. It kept my daughter warm in below 0 windchills. End of season sale provides a break on another daughter's coat for next winter. Ok, I'm cheap. But she will love it just the same.

I love this jacket! I'm 5'4 and about 130 lbs size 8. I normally wear a medium in jackets and this is what I purchased through another company in the color purple. LOVED the purple jacket!!!!!! It was beautiful! However..........the jacket only fit perfect if I wore just a t-shirt underneath it. I live about 40 minutes outside of Chicago, rural area - very windy/cold in the winter. I do not wear t-shirts in the winter. I'm more of a sweater/sweatshirt kind of gal when it comes to cold weather. When I put the jacket on with the sweatshirt, it fit - but was tighter than what I normally like it. I then tried it on with a long sleeve fleece pull-over, not as tight, but still tighter than what I like. I also could NOT zip it all the way up to my mouth (for very cold/windy days). I was thinking that maybe it would stretch out cuz I loved the purple, but who was I kidding. It wasn't going to stretch out the way that I like it. The sleeves fit perfect as well - just tight in the shoulder and chest area (I'm also small busted). So.........I reluctantly returned it. Could not find a large in purple with any company in this price range. When Sierra Trading Post had this jacket on sale in blue with a large, I decided to get it. I'm not as happy with the blue (although pretty, purple is my favorite color), but the fit is much better. A little big, but fits much better with sweaters/sweatshirts underneath it. If I wear a tshirt - a little too big, but I can deal with that. The sleeves are pretty long now (reason for the 4 stars) so I have to put it on a certain way to get my thumbs through the holes good and I don't like that, but it still fits. I also did not like how big the hood was.......until we got yet another cold spell with A LOT of wind/snow drifts in our area and I was out plowing our driveway. Now - no complaints whatsoever with the hood. Still big, but definitely works with keeping the wind/snow at bay around my face. I did have a cold draft in the wind the other day around by belly, but that is because I had my pocket unzipped. Once I zipped the pocket, no drafts and was warm. Again - VERY windy where I live. I hate winter, hate the cold. When it's this cold, I normally stay put inside (I work from home) so I have not been out all that much, however, the times that I have gone out and tested this coat, it does seem to be very warm and comfortable and I have no regrets purchasing it. I have not yet tested it with rain so not sure about waterproof, but we'll see what happens. I liked it so much that I tried finding this type of jacket for my daughter next year, but could not find one in her size (she's a small petite and 10 years old). I almost bought the XS small for her since this jacket does seem to run a tad small, but with the sleeves being so long, I decided against it. Just an FYI.....the weather was windy and mid teens each time I tested this jacket. Inside of pockets are VERY soft. Lots of deep pockets too.
Would I purchase this type of jacket again? YES.
Would I purchase items from Sierra Trading Post again? YES.
