Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great natural/synthetic blend.

The description is accurate... it is an attractive zip-front sweater that strikes a nice balance between synthetic and natural fibers, as well as appearance and insulating function. A go-to piece of clothing. As for fit... if companies made talls in Small, that would be me. Was pleasantly surprised with a generous arm length.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice jacket

A nice casual jacket. I have difficulty finding clothes that fit me well (5'-6", 140lbs, wide shoulders) and this one in Small is suitable. It's not as fitting as the Longhouse jacket, so I can probably fit in a light sweater as a mid-layer if I needed more warmth. The outside is a wool-knit texture, slightly coarse to the hand, but I like it as it's a departure from the sea of fleece and nylon out there. Giving 4 Stars (good materials and fit & finish) as I've only had it for two weeks, so don't know about longer-term durability, but for now, a solid thumbs-up.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Warm and stylish

I bought this as a midweight item for snowshoeing (if we ever get snow). I am amazed how warm it is and have been wearing it with a tee shirt in our 30 to 40 degree evenings and have to leave it partially unzipped, i gave it 4 stars due to its fit. This is designed for some one with big shoulders and a tapered waist. As someone who is more straight shaped it tends to be somewhat baggy in the shoulders. This is something I can live with. My wife likes it's looks on me.

Decent professional looking sweater with fleece on inside. Great throw over for winter outings to restaurants or bars. Size is true to Outdoor Research standards.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Understated and Warm

I like this jacket. There are no flashy accents and logos. This is a laid back sweater like garment in a natural, earthy color. In fact it feels more like a sweater than a jacket. It's warm, has two convenient pockets and a stand up collar. It's cut trim and close so a bulky undergarment won't work. The only downside was the fleece liner. Depending on what you're wearing underneath the fleece may cling as you put it on or the it off, but I didn't notice it while wearing it.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
