While pondering the $80 price tag I got the urge to search online. From all I can tell this was the exact same helmet for only $30! We've since ordered a winter liner for it so my son can use it skiing as well. In the box comes a coupon for a discount from Bern if you're planning to do the same.

Poor FitReviewed by Sad Helmet Buyer from North Carolina on Monday, December 21, 2015After measuring my head I ordered the appropriate size, a L/XL, though my head is a medium in most helmets, too bad Bern doesn't make M's only S/M. The helmet fit on my head, but there were two finger gaps on each side of my head. The front to back fit was great, but the helmet seemed to be made to fit a basketball better than a head. Checking for appropriate fit the helmet didn't rock forward or backward but had significant rocking side to side. Enough to make me feel unsafe wearing it. I hope it will work better as a ski helmet with a little bit more padding under in the form of a hat. The adjustable fit wheel on the back of the helmet also doesn't adjust the fit well. It tightens and loosens but isn't indexed so it loosens back up after you tighten it, defeating the purpose of the adjustable nature.

Ordered the M (medium) but only measures a max 21.5" inside circumference. That's the stated S (small) range, 21-1/4" - 21-7/8".
SO, I'll be returning this one and ordering a size or two up.
Will post an update after I receive the replacement. -

Good price point as well. Not being a hip urban biker, helmet meets my requirements of simple clean design, neutral color, basic graphic and dont forget to mention great protection. Removable visor is excellent as I wear ball cap frequently with other helmets. Main use will be rough mountain / trail riding and single track. Helmet can also work well for rock climbing / bouldering in 'them thar cliffs' surrounding where I live. And may I add, most importantly, Laura likes it!
Note: other bike helmets have more vent holes, but over the years, with where I live and bike, I have found with other helmets my head getting hot and occasionally sunburned through the holes. The extra venting has not been necessary 95% of the time. -
