They telescoped to fit into my rolling carryon suitcase for our flights to Maui & Phoenix. I used them several times a week for 6 weeks doing mountain trail hiking with my husband and they were awesome. Would recommend to all, especially older hikers. I am 61 w/arthritis & balance issues, but thanks to these poles, I do not have to give up hiking. The instructions tell you to NOT leave the poles in the locked position when storing them. Very important so that the locks work when you extend the poles to use them for hiking.

Locking mechanism seems to work well. Strap is strong and wide enough. Grip is soft and ventilated. Very light but feel rigid enough. Have not used them yet, but so far, happy with the price and product.
