If you plan to wear heavy socks or use an insole, go 1/2 size up, otherwise the size is true. The leather and shearling are the finest quality. A bit of mink oil and they're good to go.

I am a 6' 2" 245 pound built like a linebacker man that likes quality boots. I typically wear a size 11 shoe. Sometimes I prefer a wide shoe but in this case the boots fit perfectly even though they are not wide. The lining is definitely a plus. It is warm and plush as advertised. slide your feet into the boots and the top of the boots comes up to the top of my calf. Perfect. Because I am on the larger side it is always concerning if the top of the boot has enough opening. It does and the opening is adjustable for someone with smaller calves. If undecided......Buy the boots.

They are durable, elegant, comfortable, warm and look very masculine. I like the fact that I can wear these shoes in any setting during the wintry season. For the select few of guys that like wearing tall boots and especially tall boots that don't subtract from their masculinity in any way, these are the right shoes for you! The only down side to these shoes is that they are pretty expensive, but what can you do for the perfect shoe!?

I've come to favor boots (and pretty much all attire) that are lined with real shearling and that's what attracted me to these. I've criticized Alico boots in the past for poor arch support but I knew these boots came without the shearling on the sole so my plan was to buy shearling insoles with arch support and have the perfect boot for real polar weather.
I got it right.
I'm usually a size 10 but went with 10.5 in these based on measurements I was able to obtain...the Vibram outsole on the Alicos matched those on a pair of Eur 44 Le Chameau boots. Popped in the Shearling insoles (from the well-known Australian company that sells all things sheepskin) and my feet and calves are supported and totally bathed in shearling. When I say this is heaven, I mean that even when the temps are below zero.
These are traditionally made boots with full vamp, built like heavy hiking boots which makes them wonderful for tractor work, blowing snow, long dog walks and cutting firewood, all of which I've done while wearing them. I'm ok getting them scuffed up - they get character. They're really too much for wearing to town for dinner and a movie...even though they look good enough for that...but in their element, these beat a pair of felt-lined rubber bottom/leather top boots that they're replacing. I've worn them on mile + walks through eight inches of snow at 10 degrees F (wind chill probably negative 10) behind my Springer Spaniels and can say that my feet have enjoyed the walk. These are pricey but watch for coupons and remember that you'll probably never, ever wear these out. I'm glad I bought these. -
