I was looking for a warm long coat, and this coat is just what I wanted. The only minus is that the collar is crumpled and does not lay flat. I usually wear size 8 or 10. Bought size 8 and it is perfect for me.

boxier than i would have liked, and very long. the wool is stiff and scratchy. i'm keeping it but i'm not loving it.

I live in the Columbia River Gorge and the climate is generally mild. But after several weeks of 10 degree chill, I decided to invest in a coat that I could wear to work and professonal meetings (my warm parka wasn't quite the image I wanted to portray).

This coat is nice and heavy, which is a good feeling when the weather is cold. The thickness made me feel like it would provide good protection, which is vital in the gorge. It's not super soft, but not scratchy either.

i returned this coat for two reasons: first, the collar didn't lay flat on one side. Perhaps this particular coat was flawed, but from my viewpoint, it looked like a design issue. There is a button at the top of the coat, which is positioned underneath the collar. This button would allow you to close the coat up tight on a very cold, windy day. Unfortunately, this button also causes the collar to bunch up in a permanent wrinkle. Could this be alleviated by removing the button and pressing the collar flat with a very hot iron? I don't know, because I had already decided to return it because it was too big for me.

I am 5'8" and weigh 125lbs, but I have very small bones, so probably would translate to 135lbs for a woman with normal sized bones. I have trouble with sizing because, based upon the brand, I am either a small or a medium. I purchased a medium in this coat and I looked like I was wearing my husband's coat. It was big everywhere, shoulders, chest, hips, all around. As a comparison, a medium in a women's Merrell coat fits just right (I've tried small and it is too tight across the shoulders, and I have small shoulders). I should also note that I like a fairly tailored look--not skin tight, but not to baggy either. This coat would never give me the tailored look I desire, even in a smaller size.

In summary, I returned this coat because it was too big and had a wrinkled collar. However, overall it seemed like a good value if you like a roomier style. If it had fit me, I might have kept it and tried to fix the collar, especially given the great price! Or made sure I wore a colorful scarf to hide the collar issue.

I wasn't sure by the picture if I really liked the coat or how nice it would look, but it was wonderful when I got it. It fits perfectly and looks lovely. It's just what I wanted.

I've been looking for a fuill-length coat for a while and am very pleased with this purchase. A nice thing about a pricey garment is that it comes in the full range of sizes, rather than the generic large, which isn't great for a size 14 person on the smaller end of that category. This coat is plenty roomy to go over winter clothing and dresses up nicely with a colored scarf at the neck or under the collar and tied in front.
