The fabric truly is very soft, and the wider ankle means they don't look like leggings. They are snug above the knees, like yoga pants, but could pass for casual knit pants if worn with a tunic-length top. I'm 5'6'' tall and 150 lb and the Large fits well, right down to the inseam length. The fabric is light weight, so I won't get winter use out of them in my climate unless I do wear them to yoga class. I suspect they will be my go-to pants for weekends in spring and fall.
