5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for hiking on hotter days

I will confess I have not had much experience with hiking pants, and most of my casual, non-work pants are carpenter jeans or tactical cargo pants, which are much heavier material. I've only had the Kuhl Raptr pants for a couple weeks, but I've already found several things they are good for. I wore them to work on a casual Friday (I'm an accountant), and they pass for something like khakis. I've even worked out at the gym with them, and the material is amazingly thin and flexible. I don't like pants that are tight in the seat and crotch area, and these have a gusseted crotch and stretchy fabric which makes them feel more roomy. I'm also a photographer, and though I haven't tried this yet, the thigh pockets, while small by cargo pants standards, seem perfect for tucking away things like lens caps and filters you want to keep handy but don't want to lose.

When I received these pants, they seemed too long, and I discovered that the manufacturer had tacked on a paperboard tag with the wrong size. Checking the sewn-on, inside tag revealed the true size. I could hardly blame Sierra Trading Post for sending me the wrong size when the pants were labeled incorrectly, and they paid for return shipping and sent me the proper size right away. I can't count the purchases I've made at STP on one hand anymore, and every time I've gotten top quality clothing at excellent prices, and the best customer service of any company I've dealt with.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Small Cargo Pockets

Fabric kept me cool while traveling in hot & humid Taiwan. Adjustable elastic kept my hems clean as they were a tad long. 5'8" 173# size 34 was way too loose, but they were out of 32 & 33. Cargo pockets are way small, couldn't fit my wallet only a passport. Velcro back pockets add a bit of security.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great pants

Comfortable, durable, stylish. The pockets are very well designed, with some secure closings. They run a little large, could order a size down and probably would fit.

These Kuhl pants are amazing! Great attention to detail, and unique fabric that exemplifies Kuhl's unique products. The fit is true, with the rise (hips) being a bit long. But otherwise excellent pants and another killer STP deal!

Raptr pants are excellent for hiking or daily casual use. I personally own about 6 pairs. Easy clean and thanks STP for a great price.

About Kuhl

You know that Kühl is truly a clothing brand for skiers, snowboarders and alpine enthusiasts when you read the company’s slogan: "Born in the Mountains." Kühl winter clothing started off as Alfwear, a company that only offered Peruvian-inspired fleece ski hats. One of the original members, Kevin Boyle, transformed the brand by renaming it Kühl and expanding the line from winter hats to all sorts of outerwear and clothing. Today, Kühl offers ski jackets, Polartec® fleece jackets, sweaters, pants and more for all "Kühl"-weather pursuits. Kühl has become famous for jackets and sweaters with popular built-in thumb loops at the cuffs, which offer added wrist coverage and keep sleeves in place. Ideal for skiing, snowboarding, backpacking and other mountain pursuits, Kühl offers performance clothing and outerwear for harsh outdoor pursuits, plus stylish Kühl casuals for both men and women, such as sweaters, skirts, shirts and pants.
