1.0 out of 5 stars. not the salomon I know and loveReviewed by working woman from missouri on Wednesday, January 21, 2015I don't know what happened with the pair of shoes I received, but I'm glad it wasn't my first Salomon experience or I would never tried another pair. The shoes were so narrow, I couldn't push my foot into the shoe. For that matter, my 7 year old son, who thought it would be funny to put on mom's new shoes, couldn't get his foot in the shoe either. I'm wearing a pair of very similar Salomon's now, and they are awesome. But I recommend bypassing this shoe, or, making sure you are buying it in time to return them before you absolutely need them.

2.0 out of 5 stars. Probably a good hiking shoe; horrible running shoe.Reviewed by Anonymous from Albany, NY on Tuesday, January 13, 2015All the reviews here seem to talk about how great these are for hiking - probably the case. I haven't tried hiking in them. However, they are advertised as a running shoe, and they are horrible for that. Very, very stiff. Very, very heavy. And the rear is very high - hits right in the middle of the Achilles, for an all-but-guaranteed blister if one was to run in them.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Sturdy and Comfortable ShoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Grebegirl from Alaska on Tuesday, January 13, 2015Love Salomon and these do not disappoint. I have owned several pairs over the years and continue to appreciate the no-laces and sturdy feeling of this shoe. I use these for hiking and general use and love all the funky colors. I have a hard time finding shoes to fit as I need a wide toe box and narrow heel. These come close to perfect for that type of foot. I got my usual size 8 and these fit true to size with a medium thickness sock.

4.0 out of 5 stars. stiff, sturdy shoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Park City, UT on Monday, January 12, 2015I'm still getting use to this shoe, but it serves the purpose for which I bought the pair -- winter trail running. It's a heavier shoe and is very stiff. I've had to try different pairs of socks and different levels of tightness with the laces to come up with something that is supportive without digging into parts of my foot. It really is perfect for winter trail running because with a sock that is labeled lightweight (not ultra light) smart wool-ype sock, my feet are both dry and warm. The only thing I would change to make it a perfect trail shoe for me is a wider platform for additional stability. But that would add weight. So, I think I just need to adapt. This looks to be a well-made shoe. We'll see how it holds up over time.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Warm and DryVerified Buyer Reviewed by Winter Walker from Indiana on Monday, January 12, 2015I bought these shoes for walking my dog in the winter cold, and they've been wonderful. My toes usually get cold fast, but the temperatures have been in the teens here and I've been comfortable out walking. I've run in them a little bit, and they were fine, although they are heavier and take some getting used to. When I first wore them, I thought they were too big, but then I realized I just wasn't tightening them enough. Wonderful winter shoes!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Super CuteVerified Buyer Reviewed by Kris from St. Louis - Missouri on Thursday, December 18, 2014Very comfy - though the first day I wore them, I was concerned they would hurt my feet, the arch felt weird. They settled in after a full day of walking around. A little big, but I'll just wear heavier socks. Very stable feeling and my ankles roll, a lot.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Unsure about the closures - so didn't take a chanceVerified Buyer Reviewed by JT from Maryland on Sunday, December 7, 2014These shoes fit fine and felt good/true to size - BUT they are not tie shoes - they have an elastic string closure - I am using these for a trip out of the country and did not want to risk having a pair of shoes that may not fasten when needed (and can't replace laces) - Maybe the thin elastic string lacing system works - but didn't want to take the chance. Disappointed because I thought they were regular tie shoes - and the tread area is too tiny to use other options.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great trail shoesVerified Buyer Reviewed by Geologygina from Wisconsin on Saturday, November 29, 2014I use these when I walk my dog in Wisconsin during the winter on both sidewalks and park trails. The are supportive and sturdy and keep my feet warm and dry. I had food surgery a few months ago and I feel very safe in these shoes. I usually wear orthotics and don't need them in these. They also look great.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Winter shoesVerified Buyer Reviewed by Snow Fairy from Idaho on Wednesday, October 22, 2014The XA Pro 3D are plenty wide. They are Climashhield but not Gore tex. I usually buy Gore tex shoes for winter. They block the wind and are quite warm. The XA Pro 3D's do not seem as warm but so far have kept my feet dry.
