On the positive side, it's quite comfortable and easy to throw on and wear all day in warm weather. I don't find the high/low hem particularly flattering, but the extra length in back means you can be active in this dress--I've worn it hiking and on casual bike rides. The 200 weight fabric is light enough that you can wear this as a swimsuit cover-up, but it's thick enough to be opaque. The stripes are really cute for summer, but combined with the high/low hem and the tank straps, this is unequivocally a casual dress--if you want to take one dress on a trip and wear it to fancy dinners as well as sightseeing, keep looking. Now, the elastic waist was a negative for me--I just found it kind of cheap looking and it sat too high on me (I'm 5'9" and long-waisted). There is no casing or anything for the elastic; it's simply three narrow strips of elastic sewn to the completed dress. So I simply took a seam ripper and removed the strips of elastic. After doing that I just had to snip the elastic off at the side seam and wash the dress to remove loose threads and snap it back into shape. Now it just looks like a slight a-line or shift dress, no sign of it ever having had the elastic waist.

However, the elastic on the waist was just a bit tight and I think it would have become uncomfortable for me after wearing for a short time. I considered ordering a size larger, but the small fit well overall (5'3" 130 lbs) and the neckline was not too low. Based on other icebreaker gear that I have tried, I think that the medium would have been too big in the top. Bummer!

I bought it off season, so won't be wearing it for a while. But I tried it on -- good fit, comfortable, well made. The fabric looks like it'll wash well. I think it'll need a belt -- the elasticized waist just looks like it needs some help, & a belt should be a good finishing touch.
