This weighs and packs like a down bag but gives you the peace of mind of synthetic insulation.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. MH UltraLamina 32 RH Long
Reviewed by Jack of All Trades from Shadow of Rainier on Monday, July 27, 2015
This bag is as lightweight and compact as described. In regards to the zipper issues, I would say it is about a 2/3 zipper. I measured about 51" of zipper and 30" beyond that to the end of the bag, so good to know for the Long, RH model. Will have to stick your legs out from that level if they get hot. But mine has a zipper pull that slides around and into the bag, U-shaped, so I can close if from the inside easily. ? if they had a couple of different zipper pull designs, but mine that I received this spring sounds different than the previous review. Also there is a thicker nylon piece that runs inside the length of the zipper that seems like it will keep the zipper from snagging, at least on the inside. AMAZING how small this thing packs up and has a compression bag included, smaller than my sleeping pad! (Guess I gotta' change that now too!) I agree with the temp remarks, as most bag ratings, 32 degrees might be a bit of a stretch, but for the size and weight convenience I'll wear the LJs and skull cap at night if I need to. No word on durability yet.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great Concept, Nice and Light and Packable, Optimistic Temp Rating, Only 3/4 Zipper

I think this is a great summer, late spring, early fall bag.

I have a very expensive down bag that is very close in weight and has a lot of cold spots. The UltraLamina construction makes a lot of sense.

This bag is light and packable.

As with all bags, I think the temp rating is a little optimistic but a sweatshirt of jacket augmenting it and you should be comfortable down to the low 30's.

My feet are always hot. I was disappointed the zipper only goes about 3/4 of the way down. They don't mention that in the description. I'd give it 5 stars if it had a full length zipper.

    Here's a video I made on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwP-rqydrr4

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. What's with the zipper?
Verified Buyer Reviewed by az338 from Arizona on Wednesday, April 1, 2015
Have not used the bag backpacking yet, but here are my observations. Bag is very well made, very light and compressible. Nice hood and foot box.
I will be using it for trips to around 40 degrees and up so I feel it will work out great. Warms up quick in my backyard testing.

Now for the concerns. Zipper is very small and might take some extra attention to see that it does not have any issues. I read that the small zipper is for weight reduction, but how much can a regular zipper weigh? Would rather have an ounce or two of extra weight than have to worry about a zipper.
The most annoying thing that I found is that there is no inside zipper pull for closing the bag when you are inside it. You have to reach outside the bag to zip it up then pull your arm inside and finish zipping it closed by pushing on the zipper body from the inside. Not a big deal I guess just one of those WHY moments. DAAAAAAA!
If you can get past the zipper issues I think it would be a 5 star bag.

I ordered this sleeping bag mainly because of the compression size and weight. Though it took a little effort to get it into the compression sack it's exactly what I need for my upcoming trips.
