Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent pack, but for a taller person than 5'-6"

The pack is really nicely designed, balancing minimalist elements to keep the weight down, with great features like reachable external pockets and really strong, durable looking materials. Some reviews said the pack would be improved with added stiffening in the back, but why?,There is a full-length zipper to access the laptop pocket, and you can easily insert a stiffening panel there if you need one. I thought the handles and straps were adequate for travel use.

The pack does not work for me, simply because it is too big. I couldn't shorten the shoulder straps short enough. With the sternumstrap as short as it would go, I had a couple of inches of slack. The hip belt was sized okay, but since I couldn't get the pack to sit where it belonged on my shoulders, it didn't matter what size the hip belt was. In order to give you the benefit of my experience, I am 5'-6", and I usually look for a backpack sized for a 17 inch torso measurement. My guess is, if this pack included a torso size, it might for 19-20 inch and greater.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. pack for laptop and tablet.

Light weight. good design, good price.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. great alternative to wheeled carry-on

This is not a backpack that one would carry for any distance, but it works for short distances. Easier to pack and holds more than a similar sized wheeled carry on because of the lack of a wheeled carry-on's handles. Laptop compartment is great. Only negative is lack of an organizer section.

This is a great backpack for a long weekend up to a few weeks depending how many changes of clothes you need. I had plenty of room for a pretty well-dressed week. the only thing i would warn about is the bottom strap - it doesn't give the super support of say...a tortuga pack. There's no padding and it kind of hits in a less than perfect spot when tightened. I'm a 6 foot tall woman and the strap was high on my waist with no padding...

Other than that minor design flaw, it's a superb hauler pack with a great sleeve for your laptop. i love this bag. walked two miles in it after my flight landed to get to my destination. made the walk pretty simple, even with the slightly eh waist strap. the packing space is phenomenal and it has just the right number of pockets. for the price, it is an insanely great deal!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. A great travel pack for those trips in between backpacking and business

I was looking for a simple bag with a few key features (rather than a lot of bells and whistles) for a two week trip to California that involved a lot of moving around. It wasn't business and it wasn't backpacking so I wanted something that would allow me to get to things easily. After two weeks, this is what I like about this pack:
    - it had more room than I imagined and was still okay to carry on a plane (not a regional jet, but this could get gate checked). I packed two pairs of jeans, three dresses, three tanks, four t-shirts, tennis shoes, four pairs of sandals, a carry on bag of toiletries, a beach towel, two beach hats, and socks, underwear, etc.
    - even with all of that packed, it didn't feel incredible bulky or shifty on my back. And all of the backpack straps tuck away if you would rather carry the bag with the side handle instead.
    - my pack was exposed to some water and although it wasn't soaked, I found that the contents did not get wet and he pack dried pretty quickly (in the CA sun of course).

This bag is pretty simple and boxy. If you are looking for something with more pockets and other features, this may not be for you. However it worked well for me bouncing from room to room and even for a few days of car camping.
