5.0 out of 5 stars. Columbia is making great products....I like theseVerified Buyer Reviewed by Johnny Wishbone from Folsom, CA on Thursday, April 2, 2015I used to associate Columbia with lower priced, somewhat lower quality gear...but that is starting to change. Columbia, owners of Mountain Hardware make great gear. These shoes are very light and have a very aggressive sole. I will say that I bought these as a trail-walking shoe, so I can't really comment on how they perform as a running shoe. But it does feel like they have some good heal cushioning.
These are very low drop, I think 3-4mm. I am hoping more companies start making zero-drop shoes, as I think it was a huge mistake to add a heal to footwear and is part of the cause of many of our modern foot problems.
While these are not overly tight, I would like to see footwear companies focus more on an anatomical forefoot shape rather than narrow "good looking" shoes. I'm thinking Keen and Altra here. Kudos to those two companies for striving for function over form footwear. Back to these shoes though....they don't squish my feet. My pair did require some break-in however. Where the front of the shoe bends with each step caused a bit of discomfort at the crease initially. It is almost imperceptible now at about two weeks of wearing them.
As for fit...these fit very neutral. I normally wear a 10.5 dress shoe, and 11D athletic shoe. The 11 in this shoe fit perfect. For your reference I wear a 11 in Brooks Cascadia; 11.5 in Montrail Mountain Masochist; 11 in Mizuno running shoes; in New Balance it depends on the last.
