These have neither, and the pockets they do have are quite shallow, so your keys, phone, MP3 player, whatever you may wish to have with you working out, is going to fall out easily.

They do not make it look like you are a professional crossfitter which I like, but they're very comfortable, don't ride up, provide plenty of room for squatting, and they even have pockets which I didn't realize I was missing.

I like hand pockets and no liner brief for my workout shorts, and these qualify, though the front pockets are very shallow. Light weight material, breathes well yet not so tight people know your religion..if you know what I mean. Comfy elastic waist band doesn't gouge. I have a 33 to 34 inch waist, and the M worked fine.
