Dressage Petit Avion-Steamer S-20” Trolley Suitcase - Carry-On

I love this carry on! I have used it so many times I have worn out one of the wheels. Can the wheels be replaced?

Rarely does an item actually look better than you expect when you purchase via internet shopping. This piece of luggage is both handsome and well designed.

I haven't used this for travel yet so can't give it more or less stars for performance. I can say that it is attractive. The metal looking parts at the corners do feel like metal, not plastic. I got it in black, tho the blue looked tempting, the design of the wheel covers in the blue are tan to match the leather, and in the black they are black to match the wheels. . The shell is lightweight, and the closure is a zipper that runs all the way around 3 sides. There is no additional latch or lock on the case. There is some flexibility in the depth regarding the width of the zipper, so that if it were not over filled could temporarily squash down another quarter of an inch in depth. The weight of the interior belt (leather) adds to the weight of the bag somewhat. The measurements of the bag with the wheels is about 22 1/2 inches high. The width slightly under 14 inches, and the depth about 9 inches. It is likely that international flights would allow this for carry on luggage but imagine it would depend upon the individual flight, as some airlines want all wheeled luggage gate checked. So? As for practical use, I haven't tested it. The walls are thin and light, more so than the appearance suggests, so you could not sit on it , It is very nice looking and it may work really well for all sorts of travel? I am eager to try it out. I would suggest packing a similar size cardboard box with what you plan to take and see how much you can fit into an eight x 12x 20" interior, and weigh it. This case I think weighs about 7 or 8 lbs empty..so maybe only 4 lbls of contents could be added for some flights? Some allow 17 total lbs for a carry on.

I purchased both a black and a blue trolley for my girls who are horse fans, so the dressage theme really resonated with them. We haven't used the bags for travel, but they seem well made and the main compartment has the maximum width and depth dimension for United airlines. I suspect these bags will work as carry on with united but overall the bag is 23" (20" for main compartment + 2.25" for wheels + .75" for top handle and bracket) rather than the 22" United specifies. The polycarbonate top panel is a a little flexible so you could probably flex handle into case if you had to "prove" the bag was 22". I bet that this won't fly in the cabin in Europe where some airlines demand 20" max height.

The trolleys look much cooler in person than in the photos, and look nice side by side versus similarly sized Victorinox, TravelPro and Samsonite carry on pieces we have. Only gave it four stars because it is so much larger than advertised. it might be a 5 star bag for you if you like to push the size limit for carry ons for domestic travel.
