Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Pleasant surprise

I wasn't expecting a lot out of these boots, but after using them for a few weeks I'm pleasantly surprised. These are great day hikers, very supportive, and very comfortable.

Fit:True to size and especially well suited to people with wide feet. I've worn a 10 1/2 boot (Danner, Keen, Merrill, among others) for years, and these Teva boots in 10 1/2 are perfect, with plenty of room in the forefoot while still providing good heel support. Slightly stiff out of the box due to the mostly leather construction, but they loosen up after a few miles.

Quality: Well made overall. It's rare to find a leather-lined boot at this price. The tongue and collar could use slightly more padding, but that a minor quibble.

Best use: Day hiking on easy to moderate trails, yet the boots provide enough support for more challenging outings or off-trail scrambles if that's your thing. I was leery about the very low heel providing enough braking on muddy downslopes, but it does dig in pretty well (I'd still prefer a taller heel though). Unlike some lightweight day hiking boots where you can feel rocks through the sole, the Teva sole is stiff enough to protect your foot without sacrificing comfort.

Overall: Great leather boots at a great price. Buy 'em.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Good boot

Relatively comfortable for a med duty hiker. Tevas in general have a fit all their own and it works for me. I like the vibram sole as well, good traction. Would have been a 5 if they were a bit lighter. Overall a very good boot!

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice Boots!

I'm giving these boots 4 stars because they are built solid and the craftsmanship on them looked great. No doubt about it, these are very nice boots.

Unfortunately, the tongue on the right boot didn't agree with my foot so I had to return them. I figure it's probably just one of those things and didn't blame the boots.

These boots are very comfortable, and the size is appropriate. They are solidly made, and although pretty heavy, they should do well on rocky or uneven terrain, and for long hikes. For short hikes, choose a smaller, lighter-weight boot. Can't give them 5 stars yet, as I haven't had a chance to wear them on a hike. Teva makes good quality footwear.
