4.0 out of 5 stars. First time Hoka owner!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Pastorsunshine from Ohio on Wednesday, September 2, 2015I found the Hoka One One Huaka to be a little narrow for my feet, but when loosened them there was a big improvement. They are true to size. I wear a 9.5 normally, and these 9.5 fit well. These shoes are responsive and light and well constructed. They are great for running but not as good for casual walking. Overall, I would recommend them.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Some Pros and ConsVerified Buyer Reviewed by RSS from Vermont on Monday, August 10, 2015This is probably my 10th pair of Hokas. I have seen/felt some changes in quality from my first pair to the last. The more narrow last often mentioned is one example. I have been running in the Stinsons and Cliftons primarily lately. I wish STP sold the Cliftons as they are a great light flexible shoe for faster days. I expected the Huakas to be somewhere in between and for the most part, they are. My main concern is with the sense that the sole of the shoe has a kind of "hollowed out" feeling to it. I almost feels like it a convex surface and as a result tends to be giving me a pinching nerve sensation just behind my metatarsal pad area. I am finding that I cannot run in them consecutive days for fear of aggravating that region of my foot. They are light and somewhat flexible and when I get moving in them after a few miles, as long as I roll into the foot placement, they seem OK. It is usually after the run that it feels somewhat torqued and sore. So, not sure if it is the model or this particular shoe, but I would not buy this particular shoe again.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Cushion!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Brian from Kansas City on Tuesday, June 2, 2015Great cushy run!
Sizing reference: For my running, I like a little toe room and I wear a Nike size 11, Brooks size 10.5 or 11, and a 10.5 in these is just right.
I used Brooks PureConnect for a couple years . The Brooks are not minimal, but have limited cushion with 4mm drop and I've loved them. A couple friends like Hoka so I decided to give these a try. Hoka is kind of the opposite, very cushy. I've done a few 10-12 mile runs in these Hoka Huakas so far and I'm a convert. The 2mm drop is not a noticeable change for me.
Tread wear may be a factor. There is alot of cushion on the bottom, but those little bits of tread you see in the photo are already wearing off (less than 50 miles)
Shoe lacing: The shoe comes with the cool looking race laces and note in the photo, they are laced using the typical holes. I normally lace thru the extra holes, but if you want/need to use the extra lace holes at the top of your shoes, you must cut and discard the race lace. My shoes had an extra pair of normal white laces included in the box. You must decide if you're need to lace up higher outweighs having the cool race laces.
Overall, I got these on sale at Sierra Trading and am happy with the purchase. I still WANT to like my Brooks PureConnect, but don't seem to be putting them on anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great running shoes!!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Chris the Firefighter from AZ on Thursday, March 19, 2015These are my first pair of Hoka's and I'm very impressed! I'm 6' and 215lbs and always had pain in my feet, ankles and knees after running in other shoes but the hokas have changed that greatly. Very very comfortable!!

4.0 out of 5 stars. great replacement as my go to high mileage trainersVerified Buyer Reviewed by jschinito from los angeles on Wednesday, February 25, 2015coming from saucony kinavaras and mirage. kinavaras for short runs, mirage for long runs.
the huaka's with the rmat are stiffer but not quite as stiff as the mirage, so between the kinavara and mirage in that respect. but have much more forefoot cushioning and weigh less than the mirage.
fit wise, i ordered a 1/2 size down (12) instead of my normal (12.5) size and length was fine. toe box is a bit more narrower than the wider kinavaras... i saw wider because some version of the kinavaras got a bit narrow too. heel fit is looser than the saucony's which is my only major gripe. using top eyelets help cinch down the heel though.
great for trails too. upper weld peeling a bit already around 100miles, but more cosmetic than functional so i don't mind. at STP's great 40% discount i ordered a second pair -

2.0 out of 5 stars. Huaka QualityReviewed by Running Man from Colorado on Sunday, February 8, 2015Being an aging runner with knees going south, I recently bought 4 different pairs of Hoka's at Sierra's very resonable prices. I have run in the Hauka's for a total of 38.25 miles. I like the feel of these shoes and they are relatively light (about 9 oz.) compared to others in the Hoka line. However, these shoes do not wear well. After 38 miles, the lugs are pretty much worn off and the soles look like I have put on around 250 miles, not 38. I have no idea how long these shoes will be runnable so beware if you want durable shoes. The Huaka's do not fall into that category.
