5.0 out of 5 stars. Warm head

I'm pleased wth the cap, very light and very warm. The zip-down section cover both ears, just barely, but it does cover them. I should point out that insulation is not down but rather primaloft. Since primaloft is very similar to down in weight and retains insulative qualities when wet... I count that as a plus. I'm glad I bought two.

Nice warm hat but the fit was not right...large was larger than the dimensions stated.

In order to get this cap over your ears (and how warm is any hat that doesn't cover the ears?), you need to unzip the back and pull down the black fleece liner (couldn't color coordinate the liner?). It has a better brim that many "brimmed" winter caps, but the thin fleece isn't very warm, a definite flaw in this cap design.

inside of cap was twisted which did not feel right. Otherwise seemed like a warm cap.
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. has no ear flaps, so would be really cold when you need it for your ears.

Color isn't very attractive either. I usually wear blues, but this red is too orangey for me.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
