The reel is terrific: smooth, rugged and salt-water proof. The rod, on the other hand, is one piece (tough to fit in the car) and lost the tip guide liner on my first time out. Fortunately, the price for the combo gets you a great reel at a very competitive price with a mediocre rod that is basically free. 5 stars for the reel, 2-3 for the rod...

When I saw STP had it at this great price had to get another one! This is my go to rod for casting light weight speckle trout lures. Caught many trout, drum and flounder with this setup. You will not regret buying this combo!
