I wish they were leather so they would perhaps be more breathable. Despite not being leather, they are well constructed with plenty of padding in the footbed. And they do look like leather. They don't discolor when wet whereas other brown leather boots might.

Too bad they're not leather but the substitute seems to be ok. A little too wide at the top for me (it least an inch of space between the boot and my leg) but when wearing over pants, that space is taken up.

That is ok with me though because I have short and big calves. These fit good all over. Wish they were leather though. I tried the Hush Puppies Lindy Chamber boots and the Sofft Adabelle Tall Boots but those were too tall. They pinched behind my knees when I sat down.

There was plenty of room in the calf area to wear thermal leggings, and they were comfortable for the 9 hour on my feet days.
I wasn't really wild about the fact that they were made of man-made materials, until I had step through some slush puddles. They kept the water out & my feet warm.
