5.0 out of 5 stars. I was love the second I put it onVerified Buyer Reviewed by Samm from CT on Wednesday, August 17, 2016This jacket is PERFECT. The material, the fit, the warmth, the pockets, the removable layer and the size/coverage of the hood. I ordered it for my trip to Iceland next month so I'll have to report back with how I holds up there, but I don't have any doubts. I'm sure it'll be my favorite jacket against our crazy New England winters as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Love it!Reviewed by Anonymous from Texas on Sunday, February 21, 2016This is one of two Jack Wolfskin coats that I ordered to try on. This brand is new to me, so I didn't know what to expect. Very impressed! Great fit and construction. I'm a medium, and medium fit me perfectly in both styles. The other style was a pretty serious parka that I had to admit was too much for Central Texas, but this style, the Vernon, is exactly what I wanted. Like the other reviewer, I ordered black and was surprised that the removable liner jacket is sort of a dark pink. I would have preferred black, but I'm okay with it, it's kinda cute and girly without being little girly. That would be early 50s girly, btw. :)
Another surprise was the location of the zippered phone pocket. It's right next to the jacket's main zipper on the left side, like sort of in the main zipper, if that makes any sense. Different than usual, but perfectly fine. The jacket's cut is a bit loose, more like a parka than a ski jacket, which is what I wanted. The hood detaches and is not insulated, also fine for my needs. I'd guess the comfortable temperature range for this jacket will be about 20-40 degrees, maybe a little lower, especially with layered clothing underneath. It's looking like I won't get to test it this year, however--80 degrees in February? Really?? sigh. I think it will be great for winter travel, too. Not too much jacket to wrestle onto an airplane but warm enough to handle most lower 48 destinations.
So, I'm returning the Alberta parka style and happily keeping this Vernon jacket. Thanks to Sierra for offering several styles and an easy returns process. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice coat -like the extra lengthReviewed by pitufo1955 from Minnesota on Thursday, February 18, 2016I now own three Jack Wolfskin coats and love them all. What I appreciate with this one is that the lining can be removed and worn separately. Color and cut are nice. I needed a jacket that covered my rear end because some days are just colder than others. What I miss is that there are only two pockets in the coat - no hidden inside pocket that I am used to with the other jackets. I would give it a 4.5 if that was an option. I wish that the descriptions would include the lining color, as I was expecting it to be orange and got a pink and purple color instead.
