Though it is a "wool blend" (aka like 10 percent wool 90 percent nylon) it's quite thin. I have not tried it out against wind and weather other than a chilly summer night which it is good for.

I love OR and most of my coats/jackets are from them. I really wanted this one to replace one I had finally worn out after many years. I hesitated for a long time but then one day I realized that I have had a lot of jackets that have noisy material. It has never bothered me so I ordered it and love it!! It is true that it has that noisy material that is on many raincoats or puffy coats. When I wore it, if I paid close attention I noticed a sound but it has never bothered me so...
Even though I am basically a size 8, I always find the large in OR fits me better. This was true of this coat...34in chest, 145lbs, 5'4" and size large works for me. The cut still makes me look good but I can wear a big sweater under it no problem... -

I am 5'4" and approximately 135 lbs, the medium fits me perfectly. As mentioned in the other review, the shoulders have a ripstop fabric which does make a crinkling noise initially. Fortunately, after a few wears and a wash, the shoulder fabric no longer makes any sound! I like the contrast of the shoulder material, as well as the small percentage of wool in the shell itself. I have worn it under a coat while snowboarding in 10 degree weather, as well as, by itself while mountain biking in 30 degree weather. It has performed wonderfully in all conditions, keeping me warm yet breathing nicely. I highly recommend this hoodie.
