5.0 out of 5 stars. More substantial than I expected.Reviewed by Anonymous from Colorado on Wednesday, December 27, 2017Not tech gear for a hard-core hiker, but perfect for me! This is more for knocking around camp, and just being super-warm when I'm sitting still, but less bulky, quieter, and more form-fitting than my packable Moonstone. But if I were worried about fabric tears, I'd throw a shell over it. It's slightly heavier than the high-end goose-down Moonstone, but more practical. The Moonstone is for sitting still at 30 below, for instance standing outside for a smoke in Gunnison and not feeling the cold.
It's quieter than I expected, and not as over-the-top shiny/fluorescent as it looked online.
Fits fairly snug. Just to see if I could, I threw a shell on over the top of it, and it actually worked. The Moonstone parka wouldn't, but it's got a tougher outer shell and isn't made to be worn under a shell, like this product appears to be.
Basically, if it's warm enough to be raining/wet-snowing, you're gonna be wearing a shell, and probably one or two layers of merino wool, and not wanting this thing on, underneath, because it'd be too warm as long as you were in motion. So if you're concerned about its not being raiin-proof, you're probably doing something wrong. When it's cold enough to need this thing, the snow is gonna be more powder than water.
I looked for a little more weight with the 700-fill, to get something super-warm at a great price point. This weighs in at close to 2 pounds, with a little heavier fabric than a hard-core mountain climber or mountaineer wants to try to stuff into his pack. And it's way more warmth than my ultralight 800-fill FlyLow mid-/outer-layer, due to just way more insulation.
Props to Sierra Trading Post for running the most informative shopping site on the web. Between Description, Specs and Reviews, I feel I'm MUCH better informed than when I'm on Amazon or almost any of the manufacturer's sites. Tell me its fillpower and weight of insulation, or I'm basically shopping blind. STP does this better than anybody else, across the entire spectrum of their offerings. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. If I could give 4 1/2 I wouldVerified Buyer Reviewed by Crystal Mt. Worker from Washington on Friday, April 7, 2017Awesome coat. So very warm. Not overly puffy. I would buy again. Now for the downside. First, this coat has zero waterproofness. Gets soaked real fast. Second, the hood fits my head a little funny. Maybe too puffy only on the hood. Third, it's fragile. I ripped it the third day I wore it. Luckily a little electric tape works good as a patch. Good warm coat. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Cozy WarmReviewed by Thor098 from NW Wisconsin on Saturday, February 4, 2017I was looking for a warm casual jacket that was easy to put on and take off. This fit the bill. It's warm in the cold and not to hot standing inside. I'm 5'7 170 lbs and struggle to find jackets that fit. Larges are to big around the stomache and mediums are to tight across the shoulders. In this style a medium fits perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Perfect fitVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Lviv, Ukraine on Sunday, January 15, 2017This year winter conditions in Lviv, Ukraine are perfect for testing this jacket out. The average temperature is 20 to 15 F* and this jacket is exactly what I needed. With a warm base layer or a fleece you will keep warmth and feel cozy. I like the fit and stretch cuffs with thumbholes, the hood has good amount of insulation and all pockets are at the right places. Marmot is a high-quality product as usual.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Very nice!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Happy Camper from Washington on Tuesday, January 3, 2017Bought this for a Christmas present for my husband and he gives it a 5 star rating. The fit is true to size. It's warm, but not bulky, and he likes the thumb hole at the wrist. Win, win!

3.0 out of 5 stars. weird sizingReviewed by Anonymous from D.C. on Friday, December 16, 2016I am 5'9 around 160 lbs with a 40 inch chest. A medium is normally always a good fit for me. However this jacket is made for people that are well over 6 ft tall. The jacket length is way too long for someone my height, the jacket goes well past my hips and the sleeves are around 3 inches too long. Also for a 700 fill jacket this jacket was very thin and doesn't seem to be that warm. Returned immediately. If you are thin and tall, it will prob fit fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent well made Jacket!!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jayveeles from NYC on Tuesday, December 6, 2016I had been looking for this jacket from Marmot's own website. It is called the 'Hangtime Jacket' but for a bit more money. When I came across Sierra Trading Post's website and saw they had Marmot jackets for sale, I looked through their inventory and low and behold, they had the Hangtime jacket but under a different name, the Aerial Hooded Down Jacket. This jacket is beautifully made and looks great! Marmot jackets tend to be tight around my shoulders because I train so my muscularity doesn't suit well for their jackets but I've been slimming down and thankfully, it fits very snug! I'm 5'7" 177lbs (from 218!!! YEAH BABY slim & slender, lol!) and I went with the medium because the Large felt like a big balloon on me. I like form fitting clothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great valueVerified Buyer Reviewed by Agave Azul from Pennsylvania on Friday, December 2, 2016I spent a couple of weeks researching mens down jackets and was between a Sierra Designs Parka and this Marmot jacket. I ordered both in a large for my 6'2" 185 lb frame (since sizing online can be tricky) and both fit fine. Then I put the jackets through a similar outdoor test. I wore both at sunset at the same 40 degree temperature along the same hiking route and at the same hiking pace. I tested for comfort (fit and feel) including warmth. I also considered jacket features, construction, style, and price. This jacket did not disappoint! It was a better value and is one of the most comfortable jackets I have worn. My only gripe is the thumb-loop cuffs are sort of gimiky-- unless, I guess, if you ski with this jacket. This is a great overall jacket for the price!
